How We Can Help?
All sprinkler systems need to be closed (winterized) starting as early as the last week of September. In order to prevent freeze damage to your lawn sprinkler system, Dowd Irrigation provides Winterize service. The Winterize service or a “sprinkler blow out” service is a process of completely drying up of your sprinkler system by removing all water content.
Simply turning off the water valve is not sufficient as water droplets that remain in the sprinkler system will eventually freeze and burst pipes and damage sprinkler heads when freezing temperatures arrive. This happens because water expands when it reaches sub-zero temperatures or freezes.
Working Process
A service crew from Dowd Irrigation will winterize your lawn sprinkler system by using a powerful air compressor to push all the water out ensuring no water remains in the system through the winter. Unlike some contractors, we use a commercial-grade air compressor to do a sprinkler blow out.
We also ensure that the correct pressure settings are set so that there is no damage to the lawn sprinkler system during the procedure.
- 1.Turn OFF the water valve located in the basement near the water meter
- 2.Open the drain valve located outside the house at the bottom of the backflow
- 3.Use the contact form to request the winterize service and we will stop by
- 4.Maintenance and automated alerts by email
